These HUD approved classes are required for USDA Rural Development loans, and other down payment assistance programs.

About The Classes

The NWRHA is a local partnership of lenders, realtors, housing service agencies, and other home ownership related services. The class is a 4 hour course. Our goal is to prepare you for home ownership and familiarize you with the home buying process and programs. Certificates are given after the 4 hour session is completed. Attendance is a requirement for many of the First Time Home Buyer and Down Payment Assistance programs. The certificate is good for one year. There is no charge for the class or the handouts. We invite you to attend.  Instructors are certified by NeighborWorks.

Homebuyer Education classes are held on a rotating basis. Please consult the calendar for the next class.

Topics in the Homebuyer Education Workshop help you address the following issues:

  • Is Homeownership for You?
  • How Much Can You Afford?
  • Your Credit Report and Credit Solutions
  • Planning and Budgeting for Homeownership
  • Special Loan Programs
  • Debt Ratios / PITI
  • Mortgage Insurance
  • Real Estate and Realtors
